About the Silicon Valley

Silicon Valley is the world's first high-technology region. It radiates outward from Stanford University and is contained by the San Francisco Bay on the east, the Santa Cruz Mountains on the west, and the Coast Range to the southeast. The ocean, the mountains, and many other attractions are just a short drive away.

San Jose has distinguished itself as a city with a pioneering past and enterprising future, by serving as the first state capital of California and becoming the Capital of Silicon Valley. The City of San Jose is located midway between San Francisco and the Monterey/Carmel area at the sunny southern end of San Francisco Bay.

All the images on this site are actual places around the Silicon Valley. Learn more about the pictures we chose, at site credits.
