Annual Joint IIA-ISACA Conference

The 2009/2010 conference schedule included three outstanding programs.  On October 28, 2009, the Annual IIA-ISACA Joint Conference was held at the Network Meeting Center in Santa Clara.  This one-day conference featured an outstanding line up of presentations and panel discussions.  Dr. Eugene Schultz from Emagined Security was the featured Keynote Speaker and he delivered an outstanding presentation on Global Threats to Information Systems.

Our chapter was fortunate to have corporate sponsors who stepped up and provided generous financial support.  I would like to voice special thanks to the following companies for their contribution in making this conference accessible to membership at a reasonable price. Thank you to PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Oracle, Imperva, and Ernst & Young.

I would also like to thank our board members and volunteers who stepped up and helped make this conference a success.  Without their contribution none of this would have been possible.

 Annual Spring Conference

The 2010 Spring Conference was held at the Computer History Museum on March 25 & 26.  The museum turned out to be a fantastic venue for our conference.  Again, I would like to thank our sponsors, board members and volunteers for another successful conference.  John Barchie served as this year’s Conference Chairman -- his organizational skills and attention to detail proved valuable during the planning and execution of the conference…Thank you John.

Our sponsors included Application Security, Inc, AppSec Consulting, SOA Projects, E & Y, Conformity, Epicor, FoxT, AMK, and Ram Accountancy Services.  Special thanks to all of you for your generous support.

Jim Anderson, from Emagined Security was the featured Keynote Speaker at the Annual Spring Conference.  Jim provided an outstanding motivational presentation on the topic of Leadership and Accountability.

Here are a few words from John Barchie about the Spring Conference:  "The spring conference was a success in providing education to members in fast paced areas. The willingness of the board to provide scholarships helped our employment disadvantaged members to keep up CPE credits and gain valuable knowledge for interviews and positions. The volunteers helped maintain continuity throughout the conference and very positive responses were received overall regarding conference effectiveness. Let’s get an early start for the next conference! Thanks to everyone involved!"

ISACA Training Week

The chapter hosted its Annual Training Week from May 12-15.  The program included the following training events:  Introduction to Web Application Penetration Testing taught by Brian Shura from AppSec Consulting, Incident Management by Visveswaran Chidambaram (CRV) from InfoSys, Introduction to PCI-DSS by Jim Cowing from Digital Resource Group, Introduction to ISO-27001 by Navarasu Dhanasekar from SOA Projects, and Introduction to Network Penetration Testing by ISACA Silicon Valley Certification Director Greg Edwards, and by Josh Brashars from AppSec Consulting.
