Dear Members,

I would like to thank you for giving me the honor of leading the chapter as its President this year. I look forward to delivering excellent value to our members.

Our chapter represents the Silicon Valley, a global innovation hub standing at the pinnacle of opportunity. In our roster, we have members that represent the top technology players in the world – the very technology we will be leveraging or auditing. Our chapter also includes top thought leaders who are shaping the new best approaches to efficiency and effectiveness.

Given these advantages, our chapter can excel by leveraging our collective knowledge for the common good. The founding fathers of ISACA envisaged exactly this opportunity when they formed our organization - an opportunity to share our knowledge as individuals, and leverage the knowledge of other like-minded professionals.  In these tough economic times, mutual sharing is critical to the success and survival of our profession.  A key skill gained by a member at an ISACA event might help land that next job.

As we start our chapter year, I would like to request that you share your time, knowledge and effort to benefit other members in our organization. Please consider how you can provide value to the profession and let us know your thoughts.  Volunteering is a two way street – every time you volunteer, you become a valuable resource to others. In return, volunteering provides an opportunity to network with other professionals in the Bay Area, and allows you to hone valuable soft skills, such as leadership and collaboration.

We on the Board are currently drafting our goals for the chapter year, and would be glad to include your ideas. We are also creating a document that will describe the different types of volunteers needed within our organization. This document will outline some of the different positions available, and the time commitment required. Once the document is available, please consider volunteering for a role that suits your interests and availability. Apart from these published roles, I am requesting that each member consider contributing at least 10 hours back into chapter activities. These 10 hours are CPE eligible.

I sign off requesting that you consider ISACA Silicon Valley as a launching pad for your professional contributions, and am looking forward to working with you,

Jay Swaminathan
President
ISACA Silicon Valley
