Refund Policy for Certification Review CoursesWritten by Michael JordanSince many past students from the certification review courses have asked about refunds, I thought I'd talk about that today. Twice a year the Silicon Valley chapter offers review courses for individuals planning to take the CISA® and CISM® exams. These classes are open to anyone in the area planning to take one of the exams and are offered at a very reasonable rate of $100 for the course. For any chapter member who either attends 2/3 of the classes or passes the exam the chapter fully refunds the fee. That means any CISA student who attends 5 of the 7 classes or CISM student that attends 4 of the 6 classes gets their entire $100 fee returned to them. A Few Opening RemarksThe elections are over, a new chapter year has begun, and folk have already begun to make inquiries about the conferences we will be offering. One of my main goals this year is to make information available as early as possible. This will give members more notification, and should make it easier for folk to schedule time away from the office. I also hope that planning the conferences far in advance will give us time to explore new possibilities, such as conference 'scholarships'. We are in the process of defining opportunities to sponsor our conferences this year. If your company would like to partner with ISACA Silicon Valley by sponsoring a conference, by funding a scholarship, or by providing a venue for either conference, please contact me (Kimberly Harbin).Winter Training Conference -- December 13-19, 2010Our first conference of the chapter year will include all-day versions of popular classes we have presented previously, as well as new classes our members find interesting based on previous feedback. Our tentative schedule is as follows:

Marketing and Communication (M&C) UpdateWritten by Navarasu DhanasekarAs you might observe in everyday life, we are in an information age that allows us to use innovative devices and social web-portals for communication and collaboration. Ultimately, however, effective communication and collaboration revolves around basic methods and approaches. My predecessor, Kimberly Harbin, and the previous chapter board put in a great deal of effort to revamp the website and provide unique features for our chapter members. I would like to initiate the next steps towards having these features effectively adopted by our members. Although some of our website's features have been communicated earlier, I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate and bring the following to your attention: |
